WE DID IT !

Yes, yes, yes !!!

We did it, last night we bought our ticket to Australia, AND WE’RE SUPER HAPPY!

On the second of june 2014 we will be flying directly from Santiago, Chile to Sydney, Australia. A 14hr-20min flight, crossing nothing but water, water and more blue water..ohyeah and if we’re lucky we maybe can see some of the amazing islands on the 11.367 KM long flight.

Sydney here we come

With Qantas Airlines we will fly directly from Santiago to Sydney in just over 14hrs. Amazing with Qantas is that we can bring a boardbag up to 277cm / 32kg for free!

Again with Kayak.com I could find the cheapest tickets compared to any other webpage. Minimum differences started from $100 dollars +.

The plan? For now…

nsw sydneyWe will be arriving in Sydney and stay there for around a week. Getting the 13hr time difference out of our system and arrange some important stuff (opening bank accounts, by a car?, find out where we wanna live etc.) I bet this ist will grow towards departure. After that first week, the idea is to work for the necessary 88 days on a farm so that we can apply for a second year. Yes, we (think) wanna stay for at least 2 years. This work I will arrange while we are still in Chile.

When we finished our 3 month hard work at a farm, we will move to Melbourne where Mariel, my girlfriend, already has a job waiting for her as a nurse in a clinic. Myself, well I will find again some job I like, a new experience or whatever comes on my path.

After a month, 2 months, x-months in Melbourne we will head back to Sydney to stay there the rest of our time. Why? Well there are simply no waves to be found in Melbourne, so for you followers you know that is a no-go!

Why Sydney?

After a lot of asking, asking again, reading we came to the conclusion that Sydney is the best option for us. That means enough work to apply for, the city sounds interesting and the beach is close. And for both of us that last one is a really important one.

”After work, on our free day, a weekend off we just wanna feel that sand under our feet, hear the waves roll in and see the sun go down behind the horizon”

So what’s left?

June second 2014 is still far, far away.  But in the upcoming 9 months a lot of nice things are about to happen. In 8 weeks I go on my Finding Places; Peru surftripMariel will graduate in December, I am planning another surf expedition to a remote wave, Mariel and I will spend time at our beloved Pichilemu for the Chilean summer and of course we will make many hours of hard work (double/night shifts) to get as much savings for our dream. So enough time left, but enough to do!

Thanks again for reading and safe travels to everybody!

Lars
